Privacy policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
Floaty is a Chrome extension that opens YouTube videos in a floating window. This policy explains what data Floaty handles. The short version: Floaty does not collect your personal data.
What the extension does not do
Floaty does not collect, sell or share personal information. It has no account system, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It does not read your browsing history and does not send any data to our servers or to third parties.
Where Floaty runs
Floaty only runs on www.youtube.com, where it adds a button to the video player and moves the video into a floating window when you ask it to. It does not read or change any other website.
Data stored on your device
If you choose a language in the Floaty popup, that choice is saved in your browser's local extension storage so Floaty remembers it. It never leaves your device and is deleted when you uninstall Floaty.
Permissions
Access to youtube.com: needed to add the Floaty button and control the video. scripting: lets Floaty start working in YouTube tabs that were already open when you installed or updated it. storage: remembers your language choice.
Uninstall feedback form
When you uninstall Floaty, Chrome opens an optional feedback form hosted on Google Forms. The form may receive the Floaty version and language automatically. Anything else, such as your reason or email address, is only sent if you choose to fill it in and submit. We use these answers only to improve Floaty and, if you left an email, to reply to you. Google processes form responses under its own privacy policy. To have your feedback deleted, email us.
Children
Floaty is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
